"Brief history of U.S.-Tribal relations Pre-Constitution Policy (1533-1789) Administrators of British and Spanish colonies negotiated treaties with Indian Administrators of British and Spanish colonies negotiated treaties with Indian tribes. - Treaty Land Entitlement "TLE refers to land owed to certain First Nations under the terms of the Treaties signed by the First Nations and Canada between 1871 and 1910. Each Treaty provided that Canada would provide reserve land to the First Nations based on population size."
