A meeting for all Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma (CNO) election candidates, sponsored by the Cherokee of Northern California Club, will be held on March 27, 1999 at 1:00 p.m. in Sacremento, California. All candidates for Chief, Vice Chief, and Council are invited to attend to tell club members why they should be elected to office.

According to Kevin Sanders, a club official, a flyer was sent to the CNO Election Board about the meeting, which the club hopes will be passed on to each candidate when they file their candidacy for office.

According to Sanders, the Cherokee of Northern California Club has over 200 club members and access to over 4000 absentee voters through a tribal mailing list. Sanders stated, "We anticipate 300 tribal members in attendance," adding, "to help with expenses, several of our club members in and around Sacramento have volunteered their homes for lodging of the candidates if necessary."
