To clarify not Ms. Aquash's family but rather one member a cousin Robert Branscombe is accusing three former organizational members with killing Anna Mae Aquash. National AIM Spokesman Vernon Bellecourt noted such during his interview with the paper. There is no question the killer(s) of Anna Mae need to face some kind of justice for her killing. However, in reality if individuals who were/are members of AIM killed her it would raise the immediate question of them being informants for the FBI or RCMP. Realistically in the mid-1970's the FBI and RCMP were arresting AIM members on a whim of a hint that they may possibly have done something that might be illegal. If bona fide AIM activists had killed Anna Mae such information would both have lead to the immediate arrest of AIM members and the FBI making more than hints they thought AIM killed her. To conclude as Mr. Branscombe has, that AIM members colluded with the FBI to kill Anna Mae Aquash is ludicrous.
