CASS LAKE, MN - The Hubbard County Sheriff's Department is offering a $16,000 reward for information leading to the identification of the motor vehicle and driver responsible for the hit and run death of 18-year-old Derek "Deke" Brown.

           The hit and run occured on US Highway 2, several miles east of Bemidji, between 3:30 and 4 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20, 1998. Brown was struck while walking on or along eastbound US Hwy 2.

           Anyone having information leading to the identification of the motor vehicle and driver is to call the Minnesota State Patrol District Office in Thief River Falls at 218-681-0942.

           The Reward being offered is $10,000 from Crimestoppers, $5000 from the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe and $1000 from the Grand Portage Reservation Tribal Council.
