MINNEAPOLIS MN, JUNE, 2003 - The National Society for American Indian Elderly, VISTA supervisor, Gaylene Spolarich along with Mille Lacs Band elder Rose Noonday were recently featured on Minneapolis’s NBC KARE 11 Today Show. The cooking segment aired live on June 2. They demonstrated for show hosts Pat Evans and Roxanne Battle how to make Ms. Noonday’s Indian fry bread which is also a featured recipe in NSAIE’s cookbook Wisdom of Elders : Traditional American Indian Food and Recipes.Ms. Spolarich told the television audience about NSAIE’s mission to improve the quality of life for American Indian elders who may lack resources or access to basic health services. She also explained how the cookbook is one of the main fundraising tools for NSAIE, a non- profit organization.
