American Indian Community Night with the Minnesota Lynx, Three-on-Three Basketball Tournament & Post-Game Clinic Among Festivities - Lynx to Donate $1 Per Ticket to Minnesota's American Indian Tribal Communities.Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Lynx today announced the team will hold a special night for the American Indian Communities of Minnesota on Saturday, August 2 during the team's game against the Seattle Storm at 7:00 p.m. at Target Center.
Prior to the game, the Lynx will host the inaugural American Indian Community three-on-three basketball tournaments in the Northwest Athletic Club located inside Target Center. The boys and girls tournaments will consist of high school players (ninth -12th grade), and will feature teams representing each of Minnesota's 11 American Indian Tribal Communities. The championship game for both the boys and girls divisions will be held on the Target Center court following the Lynx' game.
Along with the tournament, the Lynx will conduct a post-game basketball clinic on the Target Center court. The clinic, for children between the ages of seven - 15, will emphasize the fundamentals of basketball: dribbling, passing, shooting and defense.
"This relationship will build on the fundamentals of basketball for a positive and healthy lifestyle with the American Indian Tribal Communities," said Daniel Curry, Bois Forte Youth Program Coordinator. "This night will recognize cultural diversity in all walks of life. It is a great way for all kids to gain access to positive female role models."
The Lynx have introduced a special ticket offer for this game. Through this special offer, fans purchasing $19 or $11 lower-level tickets will also receive a free Lynx t-shirt. In addition, the Lynx will donate $1 from every ticket purchased through this offer to the Tribal Communities in Minnesota.
