Winnipeg, Manitoba - Phil Fontaine would like to invite you to the official launch of his campaign for the National Chief’s position for Canada’s foremost First Nation’s political organization. The announcement for his candidacy will take place at 9 am, June 11, 2003 at the Oodena Celebration Circle at The Forks in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

"Today I have heard very little talk about putting rights into action", said Phil. "We need to take control of our own affairs and address the immediate challenges that our communities face."

Many chiefs have indicated that problems like housing, clean water, health conditions, and jobs for our First Nations communities must be the priorities of our National Chief.

"So when I talk about putting rights into action, I am talking about a concrete plan aimed at addressing our urgent needs as well as our long term goals. I am talking about the kind of action that brings increased resources to our communities. Action that puts food on the table", said Phil.
