MANNSVILLE, OKLAHOMA - "Vibrant Native Life" is a new nationally syndicated health radio broadcast designed for First Nation peoples. It airs as a live call-in (1-800-775-Hope) talk show each Tuesday from 4 to 5 P.M. Central Time on the LifeTalk Radio network. The network consists of some 20 stations across the U.S. Some of those stations are in areas with a significant Native American presence (such as Albuquerque, NM; Tok, AK; and Walla Walla, WA) others are based in regions with smaller First Nation populations. However, a number of other stations have expressed interest in airing the program. Native American Public Telecommunications' AIROS network is also considering carrying the show.If you would like to learn more about the show or listen to a couple of sample broadcasts, visit the Vibrant Native Life web site.
The "Vibrant Native Life" radio program is the product of the vision of a foundation called the Native Education and Health Initiative. (Some of you may be aware that the same foundation also puts out a quarterly health magazine called "Vibrant Native Life.") As the product of a charitable foundation, the program is offered to any radio station free of charge.
An invitation for you to be involved:
As host of the show, I am looking for Native American health professionals to share their wisdom and experience with a diverse listenership that includes American Indians as well as non-Indians. If any of you have a message that you feel needs to be heard by a broader audience, I would like to explore the possibility of your being a guest on the show. Or perhaps you are planning a national event—or have developed health education resources—and would like to get the word out to a larger audience; I want to make the program available to you for that purpose. If you are the featured guest on one of our talk shows, there will be ample time to talk about your event and give the necessary contact information.
Although not every interested party can be a guest on the show, I will seriously consider every request. Remember, the purpose of the show is not to be an infomercial but rather to give sound health information in Indian Country. There is no charge to be a guest on the show.
If you know of a radio station that might like to carry the show, please feel free to pass this message along—or simply refer them to the Vibrant Native Life web site. Please contact me if you are willing to be a guest on the show. I can be reached by e-mail: drderose@compasshealth.net or vibrantnativelifeinfo@lifetalk.net, or by telephone: 580-504-2683.
