MASHANTUCKET, CONN. - Foxwoods Resort Casino reported to the state Division of Special Revenue a net slot win of $63.1 million with a handle, the amount of business, of $781.5 million for the month of April.

"The overall level of business remained strong during a time of continuing economic uncertainty," said Bill Sherlock, Foxwoods' president and CEO. "We've come out of a challenging winter environment in a good position for a strong summer."

According to figures reported to the Connecticut Division of Special Revenue, the hold percentage, or the amount kept by the casino, was 8.08 percent, meaning that 91.92 percent of all the money that went into the machines was given back to players.

The casino's owners, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, also reported today a $15.7 million contribution to the State of Connecticut for April, raising to $160.8 million the amount contributed to the state since the state's last fiscal year ended June 30, 2002.

The funds sent to the state represent a 25 percent share of the casino's net win for slots, and is part of a unique revenue-sharing agreement that results in payments to every town in the state. The tribal nation and the state negotiated the agreement.

The April slot win reported today to the state's Division of Special Revenue noted that the casino's win per unit per day was $319.10.

During the month of April, an average of 6,595 slot machines were in play at Foxwoods.
