Spring break will be fun and educational if you bring your children to Colgate University’s Bookstore Monday, April 14 and Wednesday, April 16 when representatives of the Oneida Indian Nation visit to share their rich cultural traditions with elementary and high school students.Cornhusk doll making and storytelling are planned for children in 2nd through 6th grades April 14 from 10:30 a.m. to noon with Oneida Nation Member Sheri Beglen from the Wolf Clan. Sheri will regale the group with stories passed down for generations by the Oneida People. Also on the agenda, Sheri will instruct the children in cornhusk doll making.
Bear Clan Representative to the Oneida Nation’s Men’s Council Brian Patterson will speak to youth in grades 7th thought 12th from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. April 16. Brian will present a discussion on Oneida Nation history and culture.
The two sessions are part of the bookstore’s school program for children. The bookstore is located in the Village of Hamilton on the corner of Route 12B (Utica St.) and Lebanon St.
