Charmaine Thayaparan has been named director of purchasing for the Oneida Indian Nation. As department director, she is accountable for 25 employees and purchasing activities for the Nation and all of its enterprises. Responsibilities for the position include planning, organizing and directing the purchasing, records retention and warehouse operations for the Nation.

Charmaine joined the Oneida Indian Nation in January 1995 as an internal auditor. Prior to that, she was a certified public accountant, with eight years’ experience with CPA firms in Toronto and Syracuse. She has earned bachelors’ degrees in accounting and biochemistry at the University of Toronto.

Born in Sri Lanka and raised in Canada, Charmaine now resides in Manlius with her husband Philip, daughter Leann and son Aadrien.
