The Four Directions Talent Search, sponsored by NBC and the Oneida Indian Nation, will hold the final open call of the season on Thursday, April 3, 2003 at the Hudson Theatre, located at 6539 Santa Monica Blvd. at the corner of Hudson Street, between the hours of 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM.The audition is open to stand-up comedians and actors. Stand-ups should prepare a set no more than 2" long. Actors should prepare a monologue performed solo or a scene with a partner no more than 5" long. EVERYONE who plans to audition must register on-line at the Four Directions Website (fourdirectionstalent.com) and will be seen in the order in which they registered. Other qualifying criteria are posted on the website.
Actors should prepare material (either scene or monologue) that is comedic in nature and can play without props, scenic elements or costumes. Anyone requiring background or play-on or play-off music must supply that music along with a boom box and box operator. They auditions will be videotaped, with the tapes screened by NBC executives to determine who gets called back to the next round of auditions.
The goal of this project is to raise the number of Native Americans and indigenous people on network television and specifically identify Native American talent that can be cast in contemporary programming on NBC. Overly dramatic material, including that which deals with the process, result and implications of the westward movement of the early white settlers, or is otherwise historically based, is not a good choice of audition material. While the auditions are open to anyone meeting the criteria on the website, prior acting and stand-up experience is not required, although the more professional the open call audition the greater the chances of getting called back for subsequent auditions.
Performers showcasing today and making the final cut will be flown to NY to perform before an invited audience of casting directors, agents, managers, and representatives NBC and other broadcast and cable networks at a date to be announced in the Spring of 2003.
