Premier Jordon Campbell & Nancy Green-Raine Promote Genocide By Supporting Sun Peaks & 2010 Olympics
Skwelkwek'welt, Secwepemc Territory - Secwepemc and other Indigenous People throughout the province will confront Premier Gordon Campbell at the Sun Peaks Delta Hotel today, Thursday, February 6, 2003, at 2:00 p.m., to give him the clear message that we do not support the 2010 Winter Olympics.
The 2010 Winter Olympics directly threatens the unceded Secwepemc and St'at'imc Territories, where land occupations have taken place since May of 2000. Gordon Campbell is held personally responsible for committing hate crimes, when he ordered the demolition of two sacred sweat lodges and a cordwood home owned by the Secwepemc.
Premier Gordon Campbell, Nancy Green-Raine and Sun Peaks business leaders are all contributing to GENOCIDE-by pushing Indian People off the land and promoting the 2010 Olympics which will destroy more of our mountains and our homeland.
The international community is paying a great deal of attention to the government of BC and Canada and the choice of the Olympic Committee, regarding our Indigenous and Human Rights in this province. An official submission was made to the Olympic Committee on behalf of the Skwelkwek'welt Protection Center and Sutikalh (St'at'imc Territory) for the numerous violation of Human Rights being waged by the governments of BC and Canada. There has also been a submission made to the United Nations Human Rights Commission Against Racial Discrimination, about these same violations.
