On Friday night, January 24, 2003, residents of the Little Earth of United Tribes Housing complex witnessed a police squad car pull into their parking lot and drag out an American Indian male and female. The witnesses watched the police officers beat the man unconscious.

The police officers then left the unconscious male in the parking lot and drove away. When residents and staff reached the male, they further discovered his upper torso and head were urinated on during this incident. This fact was further substantiated by off-duty police officers serving as security for Little Earth and hospital staff.

The Metropolitan Urban Indian Directors and the Little Earth of United Tribes Housing Corporation are calling a press conference today to address the inhumane and atrocious nature of this incident perpetrated by officers of the Minneapolis Police Department:

Wednesday January 29, 2003 at 1:00pm Little Earth of United Tribes Housing 2434 Ogema Place, parking lot
