The Chamber Music Society of Mississauga, in trying to not only support the arts curriculum in the schools, but also excite students about the performing arts, and the Aboriginal history of this community....have decided to create a 50 minute show. With the blessing of a couple of elders we have chosen 3 stories for this show, The Flood, The Star and The Lily and how the Loon got its Necklace....and we are setting them to new Canadian music. This will be performed in Mississauga, the first time in June of 2003, then in all the schools in Mississauga, then it will tour Ontario, and beyond in the year 2004.
Currently the population of Mississauga is about 80% new Canadians, and they have no idea of the rich cultural heritage of the First Nations people.
What we need are two young Aboriginal actors, one male and one female to star in the show. We will be auditioning the end of January. Those interested or if you know of anyone that might be interested, please have them contact Peggy Hills McGuire, by e-mail: pmviolin@sprint.ca, ASAP, for more details.
