Joe Fobister has started his fast 24 hours ago. he has only been drinking water and praying. He will continue to fast until the government promises never to cut or log again in the area of traditinal and sacrad land use area."This is where the last tree stands. Whatever the out come will be in his case, then I will go second to fast until there is an answer. Small pox, diseases, and TB in 1900, residential school segregation begining 1916.
"The flooding of our land and sacrad buriel gounds in 1958, forced relocation in 1963, then the discovery of mercury pollution and piosoning in 1970, now the clearcutting and the devestation of land thats our bare bones and bodies. Thats enough! we're broken almost...You just can't live like this anymore ..there's no dignity there to become a begger in your own land.
"Regardless of where our beliefs and our union with the creator comes from. It's all the same. He gave us his teachings and a savour because he loved the world...The WORLD! (in creek dictionary implying the insect fish, the animals etc.) The creators each gave us talents to use to multiply it to become good stewards of the land and to be in good partnership with him in preserving life and the mother earth.
"If I have to leave this life to the next, at least we want to do it with some dignity and say to our creator when stand before him, I did all I can to look after what you gave me to look after until you came back ... thats why I am ANISHABE."
