American Indian Owned And Operated, Upper Mohawk, Inc. Is Offering A Full Ride Scholarship To American Indian Youth, The Seventh Generation Scholarship Fund.At the heart of Upper Mohawk Inc. is the value of giving back to the community in which benefits reach into the "Seventh Generation". Therefore, American Indian youth will receive scholarships designed to fulfill their financial need for a college education and will be afforded opportunities for internships and mentoring. Applicants selected are eligible to receive up to $20,000 per year based on their financial need.
Deadline for applications is January 31st, 2003. Students are to begin classes the fall of 2003.

Every Friday during the month of December, NAES college will be showing a movie. The subject will be "Indians in the cinema". There will be a discussion afterward about how Hollywood has affected the American Indian. A new movie will be shown every Friday. Everyone is invited. 6:30pm at NAES College, 2838 W. Peterson Ave. Chicago (773) 761-5000 Bring a snack!!!! Cheyenne Autumn (Dec.13th), Little Big Man (Dec. 20th) then skip a week because of the Holiday.
December 18th NAES College will be having a feast for the Chicago Indian community. Everyone is invited! the feast will be at 6:00pm. NAES College 2838 W. Peterson Ave. (773) 761-5000, call Leonard. Food will be provided by Staff, Students and Alumni, if you would like to bring anything, please keep it in line with Traditional Indian food, ie; soups, dry meat, squash, wild rice etc.

December 31st, New years Eve Powwow and Kick -Off Celebration for the AIC's 50th Anniversary. Special " 50 years of Powwow" photo exhibit! At the AIC, starts at 8:00PM. Special Guest! Irene Badard (Native Actress and voice of "Pochohantas" in the Walt Disney movie of the same name) and Deni will be performing a few songs from their new CD in Tribal Hall.

Dennis Bonebreak is interested in helping the American Indian Center's community with college planning, educational goals, sports scholarships and finding the financial support to attend major Universities.
Dennis is a mentor , baseball coach (at Chicago State University) and graduate from Princeton University, he has provided the link from Princeton Univ. to the AIC to bring us the Summer Intern Program. Last summer we had our first intern (Liza Davies) who was outstanding in every way. Liza is still linked to the community and assists with the AIC newsletter.
