Earth Mother Mind Jam 13 set for September 21, 2002 at Powder Ridge in Kimball, Minnesota.

St. Cloud, Minnesota - The 13th edition of the Earth Mother Mind Jam takes place on Saturday, September 21, 2002 in Kimball, Minnesota from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. The Mind Jam is an all ages, traveling, multi-cultural experience featuring music, poetry, dance, performance art, video, drum circles, open jamming, food, drink, camping - and just about everything else you can think of that's good for the soul. Powder Ridge, the site of the Mind Jam, is a beautiful ski resort in Kimball, Minnesota, just over an hour drive from the Twin Cities and about 15 miles South of St. Cloud. Ticket prices are $20 in advance and $25 at the gate. Camp sites are available for $20. The festival's web site contains complete information about schedules, tickets, camping, hotel/motel accommodations and more.. Tickets are also available at all Electric Fetus locations and at 3rd Stone.

The Music. The eclectic musical line up includes Vince Welnick (known for his work with the Grateful Dead, The Tubes and Todd Rundgren), Odell Brown (2 time Grammy winner and co-author of "Sexual Healing" with Marvin Gaye), Devon Evans (percussionist for Bob Marley and the Wailers), drummer Chico Chism (who has played with Howlin' Wolf, B.B. King, Albert King, Freddy King, etc.), and a bunch more great national and Minnesota acts covering the gamut of blues, hip-hop, folk, jazz, world music, rock, funk, reggae, Irish, Native, Latin and alternative music on three stages. In case of bad weather, the Powder Ridge Chalet will take the whole festival indoors.

The Muse. If non-stop beautiful music on the Yin Stage, the Yang Stage and Patanjali's Podium doesn't completely satisfy your sensory needs, the Earth Mother Mind Jam won't leave you wanting. Fellini's Lounge will run independent films and Mindjam TV Clips, Sarasvati's Playground is the children's area that adults love too, there will be art exhibits, poetry and dancing abounding and vendors displaying artisan creations and fun stuff to buy. Beer and wine, BBQ, health food and resort concessions will be available at the festival.

Kick Off the Mind Jams, Mother Earth. Two Earth Mother Mind Jam Kick Off Parties will spread the event beyond Kimball. On Wednesday, September 18, Vince Welnick (with Jef Cierniak, Jim Anton and Robin "Adnan" Anders) will play The Turf Club (1601 University Ave. W. in St. Paul). Other acts at The Turf Club include the Intergalactic Photon Band, The Hoolies, Slim Golba, Miss Brandy Lintecum and Rebecca Heidelberg. Tickets are $10 and things get going at 8:00 p.m.

On Thursday, September 19, The Norshor Theatre in Duluth, Minnesota presents the Pre-Jam Jam featuring Vince Welnick (with Jef Cierniak, Jim Anton and Robin "Adnan" Anders) and Gloria Rivera. Show time is 7:00 p.m., tickets are $10.

The After-Jam Jam takes place at The Red Carpet in St. Cloud, Minnesota, from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Expect a variety of unexpected combinations of artists from the festival jamming the Earth Mother Mind Jam to a close.
