WEST YELLOWSTONE, MT - The aspens and willows are showing their bright and beautiful fall colors, the nights are getting colder, and there is fresh snow on the mountain peaks. We can feel the winter season creeping upon us. The buffalo are starting to move to lower elevations and we have seen a few close to the border between Yellowstone Park and Montana. One bull was a mere quarter-mile outside the boundary line and was hazed last Thursday by the Department of Livestock with one ATV and a horse into the park.

Our numbers are low right now and we are hoping more volunteers will join us in the coming weeks. We continue to gather wood for the long winter months ahead. We want to thank Art again for donating the Green Ram Truck and for coming to fix it. It has been a big help in our wood gathering process. October 5th and 6th is woodcut weekend. If you want to help bring in the wood that keeps the buffalo warriors warm, woodcut weekend is the time.

We have new organic cotton tee shirts for sale. Buying a tee shirt is an excellent way to support the Campaign and help to get the word out. The new colors are natural, blue and sage green. We are currently out of X-large but will be ordering more soon.

I have had a great summer at the campaign. I will be leaving for a few months and will be back in January. I have enjoyed networking with so many great people and organizations. I give thanks to all those who support the buffalo and help this campaign continue to fight on the front lines. Thanks and many blessings!

For the buffalo,

Megan Fishback

Update from the New Kitchen Coordinator

Dear buffalo people,

Another winter season of feeding the defenders of the last wild free-roaming bison is upon us. This means that soon loads of hungry volunteers will be arriving on our doorstep ready to sacrifice for the bison . This year some changes are taking place that require us to reach out and ask for help so that we can feed the people and stay strong. The wonderful folks of Seeds of Peace who have for many years provided kitchen equipment and served incredible meals to hundreds of volunteers here will no longer be providing this service.

Seeds will remain part of the BFC family and many of the same cooks will be gracing us with their talents, but starting this winter the coordination of the kitchen will be the responsibility of the campaign. We want to thank Seeds for all their love and dedication to this campaign and to all the other causes they continue to serve and support.

Because Seeds will be needing their kitchen equipment, and we need to be functioning in just a few weeks, WE ARE IN DIRE NEED OF INDUSTRIAL/RESTAURANT QUALITY KITCHEN EQUIPMENT!!!

We serve four plus meals a day, every day from November to June, to an average of 20 to 60 people. It's a lot of food, a lot of work , a lot of love, and is central to the well-being of everyone and all that we do here. Anyone who would like to help us out and donate and or purchase any of the items on the following list WE WOULD LOVE YOU FOR IT. Please let us know as soon as possible if you can make a donation.

THE KITCHEN IS THE HEART OF EVERY HOME AND COMMUNITY.
Please help us keep our hearts strong.
