SOUTH BEND, INDIANA - A conference concerning American Indian Mounds, Sacred Burial Grounds & Sites Conference, theme "WERE NOT ARTIFACTS" will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2002 at 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., at Indiana University South Bend in the Student Activities Center, 2nd Floor.The speakers include; Mark Schurr, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Anthropology, University of Notre Dame (Mark uses special equipment for burial sites which allows him to look into the site without digging up remains) and William Spellazza, Assistant Curator for Department of Natural Resources.
There will be a panel discussion held by American Indians who are knowledgeable about and have been involved in American Indians issues in the State of Indiana.
