The national holiday for Native Americans petition has just passed 20,200 signatures. Nation wide we have over 100,000 signed petitions, As a nation wide group United Native America has worked together to bring the holiday issue before the country and all Americans are supporting the issue all the way.

The Congressional Indian Caucus is working on the holiday bill at this time, this one issue will bring about much needed change for our people and country. Our children in schools will finally be taught that their ancestors gave the blue print for the most freest government on earth, America.

Bringing about the national holiday will inform all Americans and the world the significant role Native Americans played in the formation of America. In our next letter to the Native American community on the Internet, we will send out national media contacts so you can voice your concerns of the lack of Native Americans in their programs.

This will include television shows, movies, advertisements, music industries, sports industries and media reports on our heritage events, especially Native American heritage month of November. Each of us need to take the time to contact these media groups and let them know it's time to stop excluding Native Americans in our home land.

Each of these media groups are licensed by the FCC of the Federal government, they are not doing their job when it comes to including Native Americans in their broadcasting, each year the President of the United States signs the Native American heritage month resolution, in doing so he request that all government agencies, schools, media outlets conduct appropriate programs to celebrate the heritage month.

To this date not one national media group has aired any acknowledgment of the Native American Heritage month in their programming. This includes reporting on Native American issues and other heritage events as they do for other ethnic groups. In doing this the media groups are disenfranchising the Native Americans as to their heritage, national issues and prominence as citizens of America.

In short, it's past time the national media groups stop racially excluding Native Americans in their programs. UNA. wants the Congressional Indian Caucus in Washington DC. to take issue with the national media groups and demand they revaluate their programing to include Native Americans in areas listed above.

It is a sad fact that most Americans are not aware of the Native American heritage month of November, this includes a large population of Native Americans. United Native America calls on all Americans to demand the national media groups of America stop racially excluding Native Americans in their programing.
