"'Bone Days': New Album from John Trudell, Highlights Cutting Edge Spoken Word. From Acclaimed Native Poet And Musician. Executive Produced By Angelina Jolie, Bone Days To Be Made Available Exclusively On The Internet!"Los Angeles, CA - "Bone Days, the eagerly anticipated new album from Santee Sioux poet-musician John Trudell was released October 31th on the artist's own Asitis Productions label and will be made available exclusively over the internet, visit John Trudell.com. Bone Days, a collection of thirteen new songs by Trudell, set to his unique blend of traditional indigenous and contemporary rock and roll music, is executive produced by Angelina Jolie, Academy Award winning actress and recently appointed Goodwill Ambassador to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
"Bone Days is not the kind of work most record labels are interested in," Trudell remarked. "For that reason alone, I'm very grateful to Angelina, whose encouragement and support has provided me the opportunity to record this album. When I first recorded AKA Grafitti Man with Jesse Ed Davis, our first agreement was to try to make art and I'm still chasing that."
An outspoken artist and activist, Trudell has achieved a stunning new synthesis of words and music on Bone Days. With compositions that articulate both universal aspirations and intensely personal insights, Trudell's voice is set against a musical backdrop that combines blues and rock with evocative tribal chants and percussion. Bone Days is a brilliant follow-up to such landmark Trudell releases as Blue Indians and the breakthrough A.K.A. Grafitti Man, which Bob Dylan called 'the best album of the year' on its release in 1986.
Bone Days selections include the title track, "Crazy Horse," "Other Close Times," "Undercurrent," "Carry The Stone," "Ever Get the Blues," "Lucky Motel," "Takes My Breath," "Spectator," "Sorry Love," "Nothing In Her Eyes," "Doesn't Hurt Anymore," and "Hanging From The Cross."
Trudell recorded Bone Days earlier this year in Los Angeles with his band Bad Dog, featuring lead guitarist Mark Shark, Ricky Eckstein on keyboards and percussion, native vocalist Quiltman, and guitarist Billy Watts. Bone Days also features guitarist Doug Legacy, percussionist Debra Dobkin, bassist Bobby Tsukamoto, and vocalists Carol Eckstein, Hayley Hutt and Piper-Leigh Daniels."
