Doylestown, PA - Dineh (Navajo) women of Black Mesa, Arizona will offer a unique weaving demonstration and sale. December 8 and 9, 3001, 11:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., at the James A Michener Art Museum, 138 South Pine Street, Doylestown, PA. The exhibition will be in the main entrance hall. Admission is free.Dineh women from Black Mesa will demonstrate traditional weaving during an exhibition and sale presented to raise awareness of the plight of the Dineh culture. The documentary, "Vanishing Prayer", will be continuously screened during the two-day event.
100% of the proceeds from the sale of weavings, rare churro wool, rugs, saddle blankets, mats and jewelry by the Black Mesa Weavers for Life and Land cooperative benefits the Dineh and their sheep.
Meet Dineh (Navajo) Weavers; Louise Singer and Zena Lane. Carol Snyder Halberstadt, poet and activist, will be there to discuss the history and culture of the matrilineal Dineh.
