No buffalo have been seen or reported out of the park since the last update. After tabling last Sunday, we drove up to Hayden Valley and saw the most beautiful scene. About 900 bison stretching from the road to the treeline a few miles away, winding along the Yellowstone River. The males were really a spectacle, they kept kicking up dirt and nudging female after female with random head-butting in between. I didn't see any of them in the act though, they still have a week or so before that will happen. RUTTING season is underway.

Sundog (Corey Mascio) is still in the pokey and is due for release on the 19th, but the court is telling him he will not be released until his fine ($1000) is paid in full. He sends much thanks and love to all those who have sent letters and cards, it is what gets him through each day. He wants to thank everyone, but cannot in writing because the jail limits the amount of stamps and paper he is allowed to send. If you want to write him, his address is still:

Corey Mascio #20035
Gallatin County Detention Center
611 South 16th
Bozeman, Montana 59715, USA

Long-time volunteer Jeremy O'Day will be going to trial today at 8:00 am, he faces two counts of "obstructing a peace officer". He has excellent BFC footage showing his calm compliance, so he should be aquitted and one of our few victorious cases around here. Nevertheless, keep him in your thoughts and prayers today, just in case.

Thank you everyone for supporting the campaign!!! We were able last week to buy two used 80's subarus and now have reliable vehicles to finish our summer campaign and begin the rapidly-encroaching winter campaign. Extra Special thank you to Deanna, Priscilla, Pam J., Scott, Pete L. and Frank!!!

The west coast road show is kickin' off soon. Thank you to Nancy and Patty out in California for all your awesome work for the last free-roaming buffalo in the country!

Thank you everyone.

For the buffalo,

Felixa & Cookie

Word from the litigation department - "justice is slow..."

For all of you getting those tax returns - please consider giving all or a part of them to us to support our important work. We stretch a dollar a long ways and are the only grassroots group in the field with the buffalo 365 days a year. We don't have fancy offices or salaries and benefit packages but do have dedicated, hard working folks out there working to protect the buffalo and their habitat!!

Remember if you have an upcoming event and want to distribute newsletters - please let us know, buffalo@wildrockies.org

Fact The State of Montana wasted between $340 - $575 + per hour to use helicopters to haze the last wild buffalo this winter hazing buffalo. Tax payer dollars have also been expended to purchase additional copters... These tax dollars include federal tax dollars - ??
