From the Tetuwan Lakota Oyate

PINE RIDGE, SOUTH DAKOTA - On June 27, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. members of the 'Working Group' at the Tetuwan Oyate International Embassy' met with Senator John Nimrod, retired attorney-legislator and United Nations dignitary, at the Rapid City Airport and proceeded to the Embassy for prayers, discussions and meeting with the People.Upon arriving at the Embassy, it was learned that the other two delegates were unable to come on that day. One of these delegates being Miguel Alphonso Martinez, U.N. Leader Special Rapporteur and Cuban National, who the U.S. Customs had detained and not allowed him to enter the U.S. Mr Martinez had years ago been allowed to enter.
Before beginning the meeting, Prayers and the Drummers were heard , and honor and respect to the meaning and understanding of this important and historic meeting. Many from the Tribal areas in the Dakotas were present and their speeches by various individuals were on the future plans; the problems facing today and yesterday; the culture; the language and the Treaties -- Fort Laramie 1851 and 1868.
Also explained was the importance of a traditional government and the membership as Nation to Nation within the International Forum ---- the U.N.P.O and the U.N. Research in Treaties, International Law, the Constitution of the United States and Traditional Government plans were and are being discussed among the Elders, the Treaty Council and the Working Group at the Tetuwan Oyate International Embassy.
Senator Nimrod has also travelled through the Reservations, talking with people and hearing their concerns, hopes and questions.
A Declaration which was formulated and presented to Senator Nimrod has been signed now by the Senator, The Tetuwan Lakota Headsmen and waiting for the signature of Miguel Alphonso Martinez . It will be presented by Senator Nimrod on July 15, 16, 2001 to the U.N. Council.
Tony Black Feather, Spokesman; Kent Lebsock of the 'American Indian Law Alliance', secretary and public relations ; Senator John Nimrod; Willie Little Child; Tanya Gonnella Frichner; The Treaty Council and the Working Group of the Tetuwan Oyate International Embassy are all working together as an important voice in the U.N.P.O. and U.N.
Member Reservations of the Tetuwan Oyate; Pine Ridge, Lower Brule, Cheyenne River, Standing Rock, Rosebud, Fort Peck, Crow Creek, Santee, and the Canadian Sioux.
There were two days, June 27 and 28th, of meeting and speaking with the People. The next event was the Conference at Storm Mountain on June 29-30th, 2001.
