CHICAGO - Christian Peacemaker Teams and New Call to Peacemaking/Every Church A Peace Church join the world-wide effort to develop a culture of peace with Peacemaker Congress VI this fall. From September 20-23, several hundred peacemakers will gather in northern Indiana around the theme ³Sustainable Peacemaking: Building Connections for Change.

Conference planners seek creative links with churches and individuals engaged in the World Council of Churches ³Decade to Overcome Violence." In a message from Geneva in 1999, the Central Committee of the World Council of Churches said "We are convinced: A clear witness to peace and nonviolence grounded in justice is what the world needs today from all churches together... As Christians, we are motivated and encouraged by the Gospel message of the peace of Christ and the rich biblical tradition of peace with justice... We want to engage in constructive efforts to build a culture of peace."

One participant has described a Christian Peacemaker Congress as a "four-day taste of glory divine." The meeting will convene on Joyfield Farm 40 miles west of Fort Wayne. Simple food and lodging accomodations will keep costs low. Shared work in food preparation and hosting creates community. "For once, live Third World, don't just talk it."

Featured speakers C. T. Vivian, Atlanta, veteran advocate for racial and economic justice, Dianne Roe, long-time CPTer with the Hebron project and David Waas, professor emeritus of world and African history.

All are invited. Inclusive worship, organic food, engaging workshops, gutsy action and peacemaking stories from around the world await you. Registration includes food and lodging (bring sleeping bag) in barn, big tent or your tent. Homes and motel also available. Adult $80 or $4 per $1000 of annual income, Student $25, child under 12 $10. Higher costs after August 1. Invite your friends from across the country, meet here for a good peacemaking time.
