Yet another buffalo crossed into Idaho. Idaho still has a zero tolerance policy for wild buffalo in their state. The bull gave the Idaho Fish Wildlife and Parks the runaround at the base of two-top mountain until a little after noon, when they shot him with several tranquilizer darts. After dragging him into a horse trailer, they then gave him the antidote to the opiate- derived tranquilizer and took him back into Yellowstone National Park. In the park, BFC people were following the trailer trying to get footage of the buffalo's release. They were led to a service road just south of Madison Junction, and denied access. What is the park trying to hide? We knew the buffalo was in the trailer, but never got to see it's release. On a little happier note our summer tabling has been doing great. We are passing out an average of 450+ newsletters and talking to at least 75 people daily. Although the occasional ignorant tourist walks by, the majority of the people really want to know what is happening to the buffalo. The views of the animals in the park, wild and human alike, has been wonderful. The male elk and moose are starting to get their new antlers and rutting season is on the way. The baby wildlife are growing stronger by the day and the baby buffalo are losing that rust color of the newborns.
Thanks for all your support. Our numbers are starting to dwindle, so if you are concerned about the bison and have a few weeks to spare this summer please contact us (attn: Cookie).
Thank you all for your strong support, prayers and donations. It is what drives us to do all of this for the buffalo, day in and day out.
