ASHLAND, OR - Weaving For Freedom Traditional Dine' (Navajo) Weavings from Big Mountain, AS. Art Exhitit & Sale in Ashland, Oregon on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, June 22-24, 2001. The reception is Friday, June 22 at 7:00 p.m. at the Nuwandart Gallery, 258 A street, suite 2 Ashland, Oregon.

Navajo (Dine') Weavings from Big Mountain, Arizona sponsored by WEAVING FOR FREEDOM, will be presented for exhibit and sale June 22-24 at Nuwandart Gallery in Ashland, opening reception on June 22 at 7 pm. Present at the reception will be speakers from the WEAVING FOR FREEDOM collective, including local resident Antoinette Claypoole, a writer who recently returned from Big Mountain. The weavings presented are part of an international effort to support the Traditional Dine' who continue to resist forced relocation from their homeland. After over two decades of battling a freedom of religion lawsuit, Traditional Dine' in Resistance are in a current struggle to secure their homeland as a National Historic Preservation Site Support of this WEAVING FOR FREEDOM sale plays an important role in helping the families of Big Mountain maintain their traditional lifestyle, cultural beliefs, and freedom of religion. All proceeds from sales go directly to the Dine' Women/families in Resistance.
