Chris Plank hosts an afternoon sports program in Tulsa, Ok., called the afternoon Buzz on AM1430 KTBZ. Plank, a University of Tulsa alumni who hails from Wood River, Illinois, often reports on local area teams that carry nicknames that reflect Native American themes. One team is the Union High School Redskins,a school that has drawn scorn from its title from such people as Cherokee Principal Chief Chad Smith. In respect to Native Americans Plank has chosen to address teams with Native American nicknames as only their official school name.
