On May 12th, 2001, Mothers Day Weekend, beginning at 1pm, members and supporters of the American Indian Movement of Florida (Florida AIM) will take the time to honor the Indigenous ancestors by cleaning up an Indigenous cemetery neglected and currently owned by the Miami-Dade County Public School District at 20200 NW 37th Ave in Carol City, FL.The Miami-Dade County Public School District is considering placing a school bus parking lot on top of the cemetery of Tequesta peoples. Florida AIM has advised the Miami-Dade County School District that will not be tolerated. A number of people advised Florida AIM that the site is grossly neglected and filled with refuse.
We ask all human beings of conscience to take the time out of their Mothers Day weekend to honor the Tequesta peoples by joining us in cleaning their final resting place of refuse allowed to be dumped their by Miami-Dade officials.
