The American Indian Movement of Florida held two days of protest against the shameful, disgraceful, and racist use of American Indian peoples as a sports mascot by the Cleveland baseball team.
Nearly twenty AIM members and supporters protested Friday night for several hours in front of Tropicana Field, handing out four hundred flyers to fans scoring as racist the use of American Indian people. Interim Tampa AIM Support Group Coordinator Elizabeth Dulac was accosted by fans while handing out literature.

On Sunday more than two dozen AIM members and supporters-including a contingent from the African Peoples Solidarity Committee marched from the Florida AIM State Office to Tropicana Field. Florida AIM members and supporters then demonstrated in front of Tropicana Field handing out hundreds of flyers and then Florida AIM State Executive Director burned wahoo.
Sarasota AIM Support Group Coordinator Renee Stratton and Saint Petersburg AIM Support Group member, Beth McCormick, entered Tropicana Field and unveiled a banner stating "AMERICAN INDIANS ARE HUMAN BEINGS NOT SPORTS MASCOTS" in the stands right over third base.
Beth and Renee were briefly detained and ejected from Tropicana Field. It was the fourth straight year AIM members or supporters had been ejected from Tropicana Field for unveiling the banner.
