The 9th North American Caribou Workshop will be held from April 23rd to the 27th, 2001 in Kuujjuaq, Québec, under the auspices of the Hunting, Fishing and Trapping Coordinating Committee.

The North-American Caribou Workshop is held approximately every 2 years. The purpose of the event is to bring together people who are interested in the state of the caribou (biologists, government officials, researchers and members of the aboriginal communities who harvest caribou) to share their knowledge about the species in the interest of better managing caribou.

The location of the event varies and its organizing committee is new each time. The last North American Caribou Workshop was held with great success in April 1998 in Whitehorse, Yukon.
