I am writing to express my opinion on the way the Rosebud Sioux Tribal Council showed total lack of respect towards one of our Traditional Sicangu Elder and spiritual Leaders who was lying in state at the Lakota Veterans Gym in St. Francis, S/D. When the R.S.T. Council was meeting this past week and it was being aired over Radio station Kini 96.1 FM at St. Francis, South Dakota. What caught my attention was the way Lionel Bordeaux, Antelope, Council Rep., along with his cohorts newly elected nephew, Wayne Boyd, carried the very greedy sounding tone of the meeting. It was clear to me that their main concern was Money-Cash-Loot, and their POWER Tag team maneuvers on air was disgusting. I am glad I was not the only one that heard them.
What I want to ask is, any body else notice that when one of this 1934 Howard-Wheeler/Indian Re-Organization Limited Liabilities Corporation members passes away? That they will let everyone off of work with pay, but when one of Our Traditional Lakotas passes away, it's BUSINESS AS USUAL.
I know it is very obvious the way this new councilman came into the picture, to stand with Lionel Bordeauxs Colome and Boyd to get all you can, Lakota Indian Money Self-serving Agenda. The reason I write this is because it is so apparent that the present Rosebud Sioux Tribal Council has lost its ability to work for the WILL OF THE PEOPLE!!!
It is obvious that the Antelope Council men have their own self-serving agenda, attend a council meeting and you will see them always discussing how they are trying to get Charlie out of paying back money he and others of this clique have exploited from our true Lakota People.
It gets alot of Our People mad to see and hear what goes on at the Tribal Council, when our people are struggling to make ends meet here on Our Homelands.
We even heard where they all voted to help one of their own with money, who like so many of us who have medical problems or pressing business in cities like Rapid City, SD or Sioux Falls. My understanding is that this councilman also got a big $3000.00 a month raise along with the rest of them, hell, that's about as much as some of us INDIANS get in a year.
I agree with Roses letter to the editor in last weeks paper, only we need to have anyone running for tribal office show their credentials, like your Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood.
The present Rosebud Tribal Constitution states that you must be 1/4 or more to be a member. In 1985 there was an amendment to the present Tribal Constitution and that is the present law, you must be 1/4 or more to be a member or to be in tribal office.
I know that it's been said that alot of white ranchers used trickery to get into the enrollment, but YOU STILL HAVE TO SHOW THAT CERTIFICATE OF DEGREE OF INDIAN BLOOD. The amendment to our constitution in 1985 make those illegally enrolled members NULL and VOID who are under 1/4 Sioux Blood. If they are so good and honest Let them Re-apply, prove it to Our People.
We may have to get some honest Judge to make a decision on this issue in this coming election. Common sense says if you don't have the blood, then you are a Non-Indian (wasicu).
We have not ruled out using Our Constitutional Right of Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Assembly, We will PROTEST and more and more indications are pointing to this Red PATH!!! We also see where this founders day activities will be used as a SMOKE SCREEN for these Council Men to put themselves up on that proverbial soapbox.
It would be nice if Our People could read about what the Little Big Horn College at Crow Agency went through recently, with their corrupt College Director, and what lead up to them getting rid of the Director.
I couldn't help sending in a editorial this week, I guess the key word I am looking for is 'swindled'. I see and talk to many of Our Lakota People and we all know what is going on. I am praying that more of Our People will begin to tire of the way the Rosebud Tribal Council is catering to certain money hungry self-serving individuals. Remember, this present form of tribal government is failing us. Many of Our Elders say that federal investigations are in order here, just like what happened at Pine Ridge.
Sincerely,
