Monongalia County, West Virginia - Last year, with the help and prayers of many many people we were victorious in defeating Walmart's attempt to desecrate yet another sacred indigenous burial site. The West Virginia Department of Highways refused to grant Walmart's request to access the site via St. RT. 705. to build a Supercenter near Morgantown, West Virginia. The Supercenter would not only desecrate a sacred burial site but bring financial hardship upon the legitimate longtime business people of Monongalia County, as they have in other communities in West Virginia. and elsewhere.A new Governor a new Administration
West Virginia now has a new Governor and a new Commissioner of highways. We know Walmart is hard at work peddling their influence to curry the favor of this new administration. We know from past efforts their tactics are ruthless and they insist on bullying those politicians that choose to oppose them. We know the only thing that can stop this megamonster is the strength and courage of good and decent people who are not afraid to challenge this Goliath. We defeated them in 2000 and we're confident we can do so in 2001 with your help!
Please write the new Governor and Commissioner of Highways and demand that Walmart nor anyone else be granted access to the Sacred Site.
