ROSEBUD, SD - Rosebud Sioux Tribe (RST) Rep. Russell Eagle Bear, Norris, is being charged with ethics violations in Rosebud Sioux Tribe civil court, according to local activist Alfred Boneshirt.Boneshirt claims Rep. Eagle Bear verbally assaulted him as a representative of the tribe during a housing meeting last summer.
Eagle Bear has not rebutted any of Boneshirtıs accusatory letters in local newspapers. Boneshirt also contends Eagle Bear is illegally employed at Sinte Gleska University with Rep. Lionel Bordeaux as president of the university, therefore ³supervised² by Rep. Bordeaux, creating a conflict of interest under tribal law.
"Is he free to vote one way if his boss is voting another?" asked Boneshirt. "You saw how Lionel controlled the council in front of Kindle. We know who is the real president of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe."
Bordeaux was unavailable for comment. One Rosebud council member said the matter should be looked into.
In other news, the RST council recently gave itself a healthy pay raise. Critics have complained the money should have been used to help the reservationıs poor, "not line their own pockets."
