Iroquois Landing (Illinois) Shekoli - To discuss land claims in New York homelands, the members of the Oneida of the Thames, Canada have made plans to host a gathering. Together with Oneida Nation members from the Wisconsin and the Oneida Nation members of New York there is a hope of consensus, and a sharing of thoughts and expectations.

All Oneida members, wherever residing, are invited October 21 and 22, 2000. There will be discussions of treaties especially the Canandaigua of 1794. There will also be discussions of Oneida history and discussions of the people's aspirations to being able to return to their lands.

This is a chance for members from the various communities to speak together and to join together with one voice. The recognized elected and appointed leaders from the various communities seem always to be positioning themselves from political points of view only.

My hope/dream is that the people will meet and find they share more than DNA but a view of their heritage and relationship to the homelands. The discussions will reject the occupying govenments courts view that money can buy a people's integrity and spirituality.

This has always been about the relationship of people to their homelands and it has always been about the spiritual connection the people have to their homelands. This never was about money. Judges and lawyers worship money and greed and politicians, tribal or occupying, worship spending.

A gathering of On yote aka may revive the time when we spoke with a good mind as one. A gathering of On yote aka may wash away these visions of separateness of people exiled from their own lands.

A gathering of On yote aka may empty the people's minds of borders, the occupying U.S. and Crown Governments, put up to separate the people.

The Oneida of the Thames are located just west of London Ontario.
