News from the Buffalo Field Campaign

Attention Bison Activists and Concerned Citizens!: The following information was released this week by the Department of the Interior, National Park Service, Intermountain Region:The 'Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) for the Interagency Bison Management Plan for the State of Montana and Yellowstone National Park' has been completed.
This three volume document is now available in limited printed copies and on CD-ROM. An Executive Summary has also been prepared as a separate document. The executive summary can be viewed on the Internet.
To request the three volume FEIS, CD-ROM, or copies of the Executive Summary, please call (307) 344-2159.
Substantive comments will be considered prior to issuing a record of decision. Comments must be post-marked on or before October 2, 2000. While a public comment period is not required on a final EIS, the agencies are accepting comments that: (1) document substantive concerns on specific elements of the agencies' preferred alternative, as modified from the draft EIS; and (2) provide new information that would substantively change the agencies' FEIS analyses.
