FLORIDA - The American Indian Movement of Florida (AIMFL) will kick off its 15th Anniversary State Conference at 7:00 p.m. September 1, 2000 at Wickham Park in Melbourne Florida with the 2000 AIMFL For Freedom Concert. The concert will feature the bands Metalbelly, American Horse, Hollywood Dave and other Native acts.

The concert will be free and open to registered conference participants-registration for the conference will open at 6:00 p.m. at the park. As with all Florida AIM events there will be no drugs, alcohol or weapons permitted.

We encourage all supporters, members and friends to attend. Initially planned as a benefit concert any donations to offset the cost of the conference would be greatly appreciated by those attending.

Individuals desiring to camp at Wickham Park are to reserve space NOW! Call Wickham Park, phone 321-255-4307, advise your are part of the AIM Florida Conference and you will be charged less than their $8.25 a night rate.

The conference hotel will be the Days Inn, phone 321-724-5840 or 321-724-4455 W. New Haven Sts in Melbourne, FL at hwy 192 (New Haven/Strawbridge) exit off interstate 95. The other hotel will be the Econolodge on Harbor City Blvd. Both will offer discount rates to conference participants.

A limited number of respected elders, AIM members, and longtime friends in solidarity who are having trouble with accomodations may contact the AIMFL State Office, e-mail: AIMFL@aol.com and we may be able to find accomodations in Melbourne and nearby towns in members and supporters homes.
