MIAMI, FL - The American Indian Movement of Florida has learned that the City of Miami has plans to sell Brickell Park in downtown Miami for $30 million to developers. This site has been known, since at least 1965, to include an Indigenous cemetery that is at least 1,000 years old.

Some city commissioners have said had they known the park included an Indigenous cemetery they would not have voted to sell the property. Florida AIM asks all people of conscious to email the mayor of Miami Joe Carollo at jcarollo@ci.miami.fl.us and vice mayor Willie Gort at wgort@ci.miami.fl.us and demand that unless they plan to sell non-Indian cemeteries to offset the city's debt that they do not sell an Indian cemetery.
