Anna McKibben, 10th National Miss Indian USA, Quapaw Tribe of Oklahoma, and Grace Thorpe, the daughter of legendary Olympic athlete Jim Thorpe, and President of the National Environmental Coalition Of Native Americans (NECONA), are campaigning to put the legendary athlete Jim Thorpe, on a box of the Wheaties breakfast cereal.Jim Thorpe was voted Athlete of the Century, thanks in part, to the heavy publicity this issue received on the Internet, by way of an ABC Sports Internet poll.
There has been little success, so far, in convincing General Mills, the makers of cereal known as "Breakfast of Champions" that Jim Thorpe's picture should appear on the Wheaties box.
