Come to the University of Minnesota Playwrights Center: 2301 E Franklin Ave., Minneapolis, MN, on Tuesday April 4, 7:30 p.m. to hear a staged reading of a new play.The Opera Singer, by Ann Schulman, is part of the Center's annual Hot House festival! (The lead character in the play is Native, raised in a white household.) Listen and participate in an audience discussion afterwards!
About the play: The Opera Singer by Playwright, Ann Schulman
International opera star Suzanna Briosa brings her young lover Jonathan home to the North Dakota farm house where she grew up. Having missed her mother's funeral, Suzanna is plagued with remorse and seeks her adoptive father Thomas' forgiveness. But when she arrives, she is once again confronted by Thomas' emotional spareness. Unsatisfied with his forgiveness, Suzanna must face her experience growing up an artist, part Native American Indian, on a small Midwestern ranch.
Admission is a "suggested donation" of $5 at the door. Feel free to give as little or as much as you can or want.
