Red Cloud Building, Pine Ridge Agency, South Dakota - On February 26th, 2000, someone claiming to be a spokesman for Oglala Lakota Chief Oliver Red Cloud posted an erroneous notice on the Internet. The notice was informing people to send donations to P.O. Box 846, Pine Ridge, SD.
We took peaceful control of our tribal building for the sole purpose of ending the gross mismanagement of tribal funds. Our Nation has suffered as our elected officials have lined their pockets with the peoples' money. Under the oppressive I.R.A. government, our people have learned to be very resourceful, to stretch the few dollars they receive. Our purpose in this building is not to gain fame or fortune. We are here to make a better future for our future generations. We, the Grass Roots Oglala Lakota Oyate, represent grandmothers, women, children, and men that want to reformulate our government to serve all the people of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.
Again, the information posted concerning donations being sent to P.O. Box 846 is erroneous and was not authorized by Chief Oliver Red Cloud. The Grass Roots Oglala Lakota Oyate contend that they will take legal action against this party if they persist in jeopardizing our cause against our corrupt tribal government.

This is a Post Office Box address established for the purpose of receiving donations of food, coffee, paper products, batteries, blankets, etc. A previous posting concerning our "Legal Defense Account" at the security First Bank, Rushville, Nebraska, has been put on teporary hold until we establish our 501 C-3 status. According to the bank manager, any donations sent to the account would have been returned because the account was not officially set-up. If you wish to confirm this information, please feel free to contact the Security First Bank, phone (308) 327-2412.
