Dear Warden True:
Enclosed find a copy of a letter received from Dolores Collins and my letter to her regarding my review of the surgical records on your inmate, Mr. Leonard Peltier.
It appears that Mr. Peltier at this point in time has significant jaw disability secondary to previous ankylosis and attempts at surgical correction. As noted in my letter to Ms. Collins, I had communicated with Dr. Tom Collins regarding his treatment and he indicated to me that further surgical management was indicated. As noted in my letter to Ms. Collins, I would be happy to provide a second opinion regarding the advisability of further surgery and even provide this treatment if this is Mr. Peltier’s wish and if this is possible in view of Mr. Peltier’s incarceration and security concerns. Appropriate head and neck C.T. scans would be indicated at this point in time and could possibly be accomplished prior to our consultation which may allow more advanced planning or even prevent him from coming here needlessly.
