Dear Peltier supporters,

We just received a call from Dr. Keller at the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Keller reported that x-rays of Leonard Peltier’s jaw were taken yesterday. He said the x-rays showed that Leonard Peltier had *ankylosis on both sides of his jaw, meaning that his jaw was totally frozen. He said he performed a five hour surgery on him, Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at the Mayo Clinic, and returned his jaw to a complete working condition. He reported that Leonard is doing just fine and he is happy. He said that Leonard will have to do jaw exercises for about two months.

We have now received news from a trustworthy source that Leonard is okay, and in fact has received proper medical treatment at long last. What a relief!

On the other hand, imagine, Leonard has been tortured for four years from a condition that could have been fixed in five hours. Prison officials have been telling us for over a year that his condition did not warrant x-rays, a second opinion, or any treatment at all.

Proof, once again, that vindictiveness has replaced Leonard Peltier’s human and constitutional rights by government officials and they feel completely comfortable lying to the public, congress, and even the United Nations. However, it also shows that enough pressure from concerned individuals and human rights groups can have an effect.

Let’s make that effectiveness free Leonard Peltier before Clinton is out of office! We will keep you informed of any further updates. Hopefully, we will be in direct touch with Leonard soon. Prison officials have not facilitated a phone call with Leonard's attorneys yet. We do not know how long Leonard will remain in Rochester, but we will update you when we find out. Thanks again for your concern and help.
