Tahlequah, OK - The Cherokee Nation is announcing the creation of a new work program
designed to provide immediate assistance to Cherokee citizens that are
unemployed and need a temporary helping hand.
The Cherokee Day Work program is designed to provide help to Cherokee
people by allowing them the opportunity to work for assistance, while
they continue trying to secure full-time employment or assistance
through other programs. The work program will be available throughout
the Cherokee Nation’s 14-county jurisdiction.
To be eligible, an applicant must be a Cherokee Nation citizen that is
currently unemployed. Applicants will need to provide proof of tribal
citizenship. Sponsored by the Cherokee Nation Career Services Group, the
program will provide emergency funding to a citizen in turn for
temporary work of 4 to 8 hours per day in a Cherokee Nation facility.
Application can be made at any Cherokee Nation field office in the
county where the citizen resides.
