Tahlequah, OK - Sequoyah Schools’ football homecoming will be Friday, October 23. The
coronation ceremony will begin at 6:50 p.m., immediately preceding the
football game against Kansas.
The Sequoyah Schools’ football homecoming queen is Lindsey Hammer.
Hammer, 17, of Peavine, is the daughter of Sheila Nelson and DeWayne
Hammer and is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation. She is a member of the
basketball and softball teams and was a Muskogee Phoenix Academic
All-Star. Hammer will be escorted by King Keeanu Poe. Poe, 17, of
Miami, is the son of Rocky and Stephanie Poe and is a citizen of the
Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. Poe is a captain of the football team
and competes on the power lifting team.
The senior attendant is Lynsey Dry. Dry, 18, of Wilburton, is the
daughter of Doug and Pat Dry and is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation.
Dry is a member of the basketball and slow-pitch softball teams and is a
watergirl for the football team and has attended summer programs at West
Point, the United States Naval Academy and the United States Air Force
Academy. Dry will be escorted by senior Chris Hummingbird. Hummingbird,
18, of Oklahoma City is the son of Karen Hummingbird and is Kiowa. He
is a captain of the football team and on the superintendent’s honor roll.
The junior attendant is Kim King. King, 16, of Tahlequah is the
daughter of Jeff and Annette King and is Cheyenne Arapaho and Cherokee.
King is a member of AISES and is on the student council. She will be
escorted by senior Ryker Salazar. Salazar, 17, of Stilwell is the son
of Gina Martinez and Terry Asbill and is a citizen of the Cherokee
Nation. Salazar is a member of the football, track and power lifting
teams and has been named the special teams Most Valuable Player.
The sophomore attendant is Keisha Jones. Jones, 16, of Tahlequah is the
daughter of Maggie and Ricky Jones and is Cherokee. She plays
fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball and is the second generation of her
family to attend Sequoyah Schools. Jones will be escorted by senior
Taylor Poe. Poe, 17, of Tahlequah is the son of Sean and Donna Poe and
is a citizen of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. Poe participates
in football, wrestling, powerlifitng and track and is a member of the
National Honor Society.
The freshman attendant is Kylie Smith. Smith, 14, of Locust Grove, is
the daughter of Glenna Smith and is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation.
Smith is the reserve champion barrel racer on the Heartland Tour and
regularly participates in rodeos. Smith will be escorted by senior
Jacob Tiger. Tiger, 17, of Tulsa is the son of Anthony and Donna Tiger.
He is Cherokee, Sioux, Creek and Seminole and plays football, baseball
and is a member of the power lifting team.
The flower girl is Conley Smith. Smith, 5, of Stilwell is the daughter
of Misty and Michael Smith and attends Maryetta School. The ring bearer
is Jagger Nelson. Nelson, 5, of Stilwell is the son of Payton Nelson
and Samantha Ferguson. He also attends Maryetta School.
