Cherokee Nation attorney Chrissi Ross Nimmo will participate in the
Oklahoma Bar Association’s second annual Leadership Academy class
selected from applicants throughout the state.
Nimmo, a citizen of the Cherokee Nation who works in the tribe’s Office
of the Attorney General, was one of 26 lawyers chosen for the OBA’s
Leadership Academy.
"We're very proud of Chrissi, and the honor of being selected as a
member of the OBA leadership class. It will provide her a wealth of
opportunities and leadership skill development,” said Diane Hammons,
Cherokee Nation Attorney General.
“This program offers new and exciting opportunities for Oklahoma
attorneys,” said OBA President Jon Parsley of Guymon. “This program
allows participants to learn how to communicate and motivate more
effectively resulting in greater success not only in law, but also in
service to professional, political, judicial, civic and community
organizations.”
The OBA Leadership Academy will offer four sessions, set to begin in the
early fall and continue through May 2010. Along with many leadership
training activities, Dr. Jeff Magee of Jeff Magee International in Tulsa
will present at the academy. He will provide educational lectures on
leadership and teamwork.
The 16,000-member Oklahoma Bar Association, headquartered in Oklahoma
City, was created by the Oklahoma Supreme Court to advance the
administration of justice and to foster and maintain learning, integrity,
competence, public service and high standards of conduct among
Oklahoma’s legal community.
Nimmo is a graduate of the University Of Tulsa College Of Law.
Originally from the Warner community, she has worked for the Cherokee
Nation since September of 2008.
