“I’m not surprised,” said Gina Stanley, Sequoyah superintendent. “Both of these teams have worked hard to get to this tournament and will work hard until it is over. I’m so proud of these kids for giving 100% every time they step onto the court.” The Sequoyah boys’ basketball team played first today against Plainview. After getting off to a slow start, Sequoyah rallied to a 20 point victory, beating Plainview 76 to 56. The Sequoyah girls’ team followed in the boys footsteps with a victory over Marietta. “Both teams played well today,” Stanley said. “They worked together and showed a lot of leadership out there.” The boys’ team will play Friday at 10:30 a.m. and the girls will play at 4:30 p.m. Both games will be held at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds Arena. Tickets are $5 for students and adults. The games will also be broadcast live on KEOK in Cherokee and KTLQ in English. |
