TAHLEQUAH, OK - The Cherokee Nation is taking vendor applications for
three upcoming arts and crafts festivals in Tahlequah. A Day in the Park
Arts and Crafts Festival will be held on Saturday, September 27 and on
Saturday, November 29, at Norris Park. A third event, Art on the Square
will take place from Friday, October 3 through Sunday, October 5, on the
grounds of the Cherokee Nation Tribal Courthouse.
The three events will be hosted by the Cherokee Nation’s Community Tourism Office to promote economic development through tourism within Cherokee communities. “By assisting Cherokee communities through tourism and business development, our office can help build an alternative industry in rural communities that will enhance the lives and economies of our Cherokee citizens,” said Donna Tinnin, Tourism Development Planning Specialist. Booth space is limited. Cherokee Nation citizens will be given first preference for booth space. The deadline to register for the September festival and the Art on the Square event is Friday, August 15 at 5 p.m. Vendors interested in registering for the festival in November must do so by Friday, October 17 at 5 p.m. “Our goal with the arts and crafts festivals is to highlight the Cherokee culture through arts, crafts, language, music and foods,” said Tinnin. “We encourage participation and feel that this is a great opportunity for artisans to display their works.” For more information or for a registration form, contact Cherokee Nation’s Community Tourism Office, phone: 918-453-5728. |
