TAHLEQUAH, OK - The Cherokee Nation provided $38,000 to the Zoe
Institute of Tahlequah, an organization that provides support to single
moms in need.
“A goal of the Cherokee Nation is to partner with Oklahoma organizations that work to improve the lives of Cherokees and our Oklahoma neighbors,” said Chad Smith, Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation. “We appreciate the work that the Zoe Institute does for the community, and we are pleased to help make a difference in the lives of single moms and families in need of a little extra help.” The mission of the Zoe Institute is to improve the quality of lives of individuals through education, life skills training and humanitarian relief efforts. The organization impacts the lives of people by assisting them in achieving a safe and healthy life where dreams are always possible. “Cherokee Nation’s generous contribution will enable Zoe Institute and the Tahlequah Single Mom’s Resource Center to fulfill its vision of providing a place where single mothers can come to learn they are valuable; where they can be educated, encouraged, mentored, and supported,” said Rhonda Clemons, Executive Director. “The contribution will provide funding to operate Zoe’s community warehouse, support groups, educational classes, conferences, outreaches and mentoring programs. We appreciate this generous gift from the Cherokee Nation. The tribe is truly a good partner to the community.” |
